An intensive care unit is a special ward in a hospital which is equipped with life support facilities and a more sophisticated level of care and supervision. Patients who are in critical condition and require life support and constant medical supervision are admitted into an ICU. The ward is under the constant supervision of dedicated medical practitioners.
